BJP video on Rahul Gandhi and China includes false information

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has a weird obsession about linking Congress President Rahul Gandhi and China. Every day, the BJP attempts at forming a connecting between Gandhi and the Chinese.

In another such attempt, the official Twitter handle of BJP shared a video captioned as, “Rahul Gandhi and China: Addiction, obsession or something else?”

The video begins with a photograph of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi posing with some Chinese, which the BJP called “Chinese envoy.” Along with the picture, there is a voice in the background which says, “Rahul Gandhi along with Robert Vadra and Priyanka Vadra met the Chinese envoy, they called it a meeting during a Chinese food festival. And now, six months after that, Rahul Gandhi has met a delegation of the Communist party of China. Again, pictures on your screens, BJP has questioned Rahul’s meeting with the Chinese delegation. They are asking did Rahul Gandhi keep the Ministry of External Affairs in the loop? Anand Sharma can also be seen in the pictues over there…”

The image with which the video begins shows Rahul Gandhi along with Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra posing for a picture with Chinese ambassador to India.

The same photograph was earlier used to suggest that the Congress Chief met the Chinese envoy and that too also at a time when Indian and Chinese troops were locked in a tense stand-off at Doklam in 2017.

Alt News did a reverse image search to establish the veracity of the photograph. The image used by the BJP is an old one and is available on internet since April 21st, 2017 on the Chinese Embassy website.

Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rober Vadra had attended a Chinese food festival held in Delhi itself. Not just this, the same festival was also attended by Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, Sitaram Yechuri from CPI(M), K.C. Tyagi from JD(U) and other leaders from BJP such as Tarun Vijay and Udit Raj.

Now, the same image is being again used by the BJP to try to establish a relationship between the Gandhi scion and China, at a time when Gandhi has embarked on a yatra to Kailash Mansarovar.

The saffron party should know where to draw limits. Also, as a national party and the party which is in power, it should act responsibly and should not act as a purveyor of fake news.
